Our members have two options for selling books they have written.
Option One .. If the book has an ISBN and is available through book stores, it can be included under our story category Excerpts.
This category is for Published Authors. Once an author establishes a free membership with FSB, he or she may then post an excerpt from one of his or her books that is currently in publication. Under a member’s private Control Center, click on Submit an Excerpt. Follow the instructions.
However, this is really more that just posting part or all of a chapter. There should be an introduction to the excerpt that tells the author’s “story behind the book”. The human side of the author’s writing experience will be important for helping the excerpt to stand out. At the end of each excerpt will be a “Buy This Book” button. The current default will take the buyer to your book at Powell’s Books.
The excerpts may be found on the toolbar by clicking on Read Stories/Story Categories/Excerpts or on the member/author’s Home Page list of stories.
Option Two .. If the book is self published and only available when ordered from the author, it can be included under our story category Self Published.
In a member’s Control Center is an item called Submit a Story. More information may be found on the toolbar under How To/Submit a Story. My suggestion is that in addition to using the information found in the How To section, that you also follow the guidelines established for Excerpts. Include something from your book and also tell your “story behind the book“. You are allowed by FSB to then provide a link to where people can order your book.
When a story is posted on our site, a copyright is automatically shown. If your book has a copyright that you obtained, you should show it separately in your posting.
Our Market Place has a section titled Books by our Members. This directs people to the Excerpts and Self Published story categories.
