Establish a Free Membership
If you are at least age eighteen, you may establish a free FSB membership. If you choose to, you then may post stories with or without drawings, pictures, links to other internet sites or video clips. You become a FamilyStoriesBlog Author once you post your first story. Your stories will be available for viewing by any member or visitor to the site.
When registering, you will provide us with a user id that will be used along with a password each time you log in. The user id will be public information in that it will show in the URL for your profile. You will also provide a pen name. It is how you will be publicly identified on this site. You may use the user id for your pen name or you may choose something else.
We have made special membership arrangements for children and young adults under the age of eighteen. An adult member may sponsor and add Junior Members as sub-accounts under the adult’s membership. Until age eighteen, a junior member will be able to post his or her own stories. At age eighteen a new story can no longer be posted by a junior member. An option will be made available to convert to an adult membership.
Many Benefits of Membership
- Members may post stories that they have written.
- Members will be able to post a review on any author’s story and rank the story from 1-5 stars.
- Members may be notified whenever one of their favorite authors posts a new story or excerpt.
- Members will have a private category called Friends. Other members who are requested to be Friends and who accept will be listed in this category that may be accessed through My Account/Friends. This allows a member to more easily go to the public home page and message center for specific members. This is easier than having to search for them each time in directories. No one will be able to see a member’s list of friends.
- Members may form or join groups where people with common interests communicate.
- Members may leave messages for another member using that member’s Message Center. A member has the option to have all messages received be either “private” or “public”.
- Members will each have a private Control Center where they can manage the options on their accounts.
- Members have the option of blocking another member from leaving messages for them or reviews on their stories.
- Members may provide links to a personal blog.
- Members may establish lists of My Favorite Authors, My Favorite Bloggers and My Favorite Groups.
FamilyStoriesBlog.com will track the number of times a Favorite Author, Blogger or Group has been selected. We will feature the top thirty-six favorite choices for each category on our home page.
Membership Oversight
I have had mixed feelings about having a member post a story or blog without having it first reviewed by an “FSB Moderator”. We want to keep our site family friendly. I do realize that there is a level of excitement in posting a story and then seeing it on this site, available for the world to read. I prefer not to diminish that excitement with unnecessary delays. After a new member’s account has been approved, we will accept postings without prior review. Since this site is about and for our members, we would hope that you will contact us if you see any content, pen names or links that you feel inappropriate. Our email addresses are shown at the top of our home page under Tools/Contact Us.
